Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the most popular national parks in the Indian state Madhya Pradesh. Due to its high tiger sighting which is directly proportional to its tiger sighting. Bandhavgarh nationa park situated at 197 km away north-east of Jabalpur and has derived its very name from an ancient fort in the area.
Now there are about 46 to 52 tigers one can spot here.

Initially just 105.40-sq-kms in area, Bandhavgarh with 25 resident TIGERS was noted for its high-density tiger population. Today, it has been extended to an area of 437-sq-kms. About half the Bandhavgarh Park is covered with fine trees of Sal, while mixed forests are found in the higher reaches of the hills. Stretches of bamboo and grasslands extend to the north. The main wildlife viewing is still done in the core of the park with its 32 picturesque, wooded hills.

The vegetation along streams and marshes at Bandhavgarh national park is rich in bird life. The common ones are Little Grebe, Egret, lesser Adjutant Sarus Crane, Black Ibis, Lesser Whistling Teal, White-eyed Buzzard, Black Kite, Crested Serpent Eagle, Black Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Common Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl, Dove, Parakeets, Kingfishers and Indian Rollers. Reptilian Fauna at Bandhavgarh national park include Cobra, Krait, Viper, Rat-snake, and Python, Turtle and a number of lizard varieties, including Varanus.

| Best Time to visit Bandhavgarh |
The best time to visit the Bandhavgarh national park keeping all aspects in mind, is between December and February but it is the warmer months of April, May and June that are best for tiger and leopard sightings. During the summer months, most of the animals are seen around the few precious water bodies not yet vaporized by the intense heat.

Bandhavgarh experiences climatic conditions that
vary to opposite extremes. In winters, the bitter cold forces the visitors to put on multiple layers as protection against the biting cold. Early morning rides can be in temperatures that dip below zero, once you take the wind chill factor into consideration. In the summers, it changes drastically to the opposite. It now feels uncomfortable to even sometimes put on a thin cotton t-shirt.
